“Dire Wilderness Drama: The Leopard’s Relentless Feud with Wild Dogs”
When hunting, wild dogs often gather in large groups of about 20 animals and can together take down prey many times larger than them, such as zebras and wildebeests.
With good eyesight and endurance, wild dogs can continuously pursue prey within a radius of 8 km with the fastest speed of up to 66 km/h. Normally, they will chase their prey until they are exhausted and collapse, no longer able to fight back, and then kill them.
To be able to hunt a large prey, members of the herd need to have smooth coordination, separate the prey from its herd and then attack with all their force.
Normally, wild dogs just avoid confrontation with truly ferocious and bloodthirsty animals such as lions and hyenas. The rest, including other predators, if they have enough teammates, wild dogs are ready to flatten everything.
Mr. Stu Porter, a photography guide, accidentally captured the scene of ferocious revenge of a pack of wild dogs against their enemies.
That day was the last day of the tour group’s trip to the Savuti area of Chobe National Park, Botswana. Because we knew there was a pack of stray dogs operating here, the whole group decided to visit them before going to the airport.
When he arrived, Porter saw that the dogs were still there, quite comfortable and enjoying relaxing moments together. The leader and the larger animals looked like they had just finished eating, so they looked quite lethargic, not feeling as active as usual.
The strange appearance of a stray dog constantly looking up at the tree has attracted everyone’s attention. It turned out that a jaguar was huddled on a tree branch. Only later did people learn that the jaguar had killed a small stray dog. This made the remaining members extremely angry. The punishment of the wild dogs against the enemy is inevitable.
It can be seen that the leopard is extremely scared and trembling under the pressure created. It waited until the dogs weren’t paying attention to jump down, but this plan was quickly discovered. The chase around the tree continued over and over until the leopard couldn’t stand it anymore. It lowered all determination for this bet. However, the dogs are not easy to ignore. They rushed to bite and attack the leopard from all directions, leaving the poor animal unable to resist.
Surprisingly, in a desperate situation, the leopard was able to escape into the bushes. However, to talk about the animal’s ability to survive is relatively unlikely.
