The clash between lions and hippos occurred in Kruger National Park, South Africa.

Specifically, while driving across the river, guide Steyn Jacobson noticed the unusual behavior of the hippo. They became more and more agitated and began to circle around a rock.

After using binoculars, Jacobson discovered a male lion was stuck on a rock in the middle of the river. Suddenly, a giant hippo rushes to attack the opponent.

At this point, the lion has no choice but to jump into the water to find a way to escape. Although being chased by another hippo in the herd, the lion still escaped the bite and swam to shore safely.

Hippos are large animals, ranking as the third largest land mammal today, after elephants and white rhinos.

This is one of the most aggressive creatures in the world and is often seen as one of the most dangerous animals in Africa. Hippos are especially aggressive when it comes to trespassing their territory and touching their offspring.

As Africa’s fiercest animal, the hippo’s jaws can crush one or two crocodiles about three meters long. Their ferocity is stronger than any large animal. They have an average weight of up to 1.5 tons and teeth with the strength of a large sledgehammer.

Usually lions and hippos rarely clash because their territories are different. Besides, the power of hippos always scares other animals in Africa.
