Cute orphaned chimpanzees get up to mischief as they swing from trees and hang upside down at rescue centre
Swinging from trees and scampering across scrubland, these adorable baby chimpanzees are learning basic life skills in a shelter after they were orphaned in the forests of Guinea.
The animals were rescued by the Chimpanzee Conservation Centre – which serves as a sanctuary and a rehabilitation project in the West African country.
The playful apes were taken-in as babies after being orphaned because of chimpanzee trafficking – usually because their mothers have been captured and sold as pets, or shot and used as bushmeat.
French photographers Séverine and David Greyo flew to Guinea in 2013 to carry out voluntary work at the sanctuary.
Mr Greyo, 41, had mixed emotions on the visit.
He said: ‘At first I was very sad because they are victims of trafficking and should be living in nature. They have the same intelligence as a six-year-old child. so they understand a lot of things and we can have a real contact with them and see their different personalities.
