“Tiny Hunter Showdown: Caracal Kittens Playfully Fight for Baby Bunny”

In this incredibly rare sighting, 2 cute caracal kittens fight over a baby bunny, after Mom brought them their food.

Caracals are always a treat to see but can be difficult to find because they are predominantly nocturnal animals, that are generally solitary but may live in pairs. They are excellent hunters and are well known for their incredible leaping bounds, driven by their powerful legs, they can jump 3 meters (9.8 feet) high. This is their chosen method of hunting – especially for birds. In this rare sighting, mommy and her little ones were observed during the day.

Apart from birds, they also hunt rodents, small mammals, and insects. Interestingly, caracals will prey on other predators such as mongooses and will even cannibalize their kind. Kittens such as these are especially vulnerable to being preyed upon by adults. These beautiful animals have an average lifespan of around 15 years in the wild.

“A small wild rabbit was caught by the mommy caracal who then gave it to her kittens. Finally, when all the play-hunting was done, the kittens ate their meal.”

A caracal will carry her young for just under 3 months and will give birth to 1-3 beautiful kittens. The kittens stay with the mother for up to 10 months. However, this might vary – just like any other specie – due to area and circumstance.

It truly is incredible how we have the privilege of witnessing Mother Nature unfold right in front of our very eyes on a daily basis.
