King cobra kills and swallows rat snakes in an instant
The rat snake had no chance of survival when faced with a cobra that was many times larger in size and weight than it.
In the wildlife world, the king cobra (Ophiophagus hannah) is a venomous snake of the tiger family, distributed mainly in tropical areas stretching from India to Southeast Asian countries. This is the longest venomous snake in the world when it has an average length of 3.18-4m. Even, there are many individuals recorded with a length of nearly 6m.
In the wild, the cobra’s main food is other snakes. With their outstanding length and strength plus venom containing neurotoxins, they can easily kill and then swallow their prey into their stomachs.
In the clip above, it can be seen that the cobra easily captured and killed the rat snake after only a few short seconds. Then, it swallows its prey whole and gently leaves.
