Binh Duong: Hungry monkeys go down the street to attack people who steal food
When people chased away, monkeys attacked causing injuries. There are even many cases where people holding food in their hands are attacked by monkeys to steal food. In addition, some monkeys who entered people’s houses to find food were chased by the owners and ambushed for revenge.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Dung, Deputy Director of the Binh Duong Forest Protection Department, said that the authorities have conducted a survey of the locations where monkeys often appear. The specialized agency carried out rounding up the monkeys by enticing food in combination with blowing anesthetics and setting traps. According to Ms. Dung, the work of catching monkeys is difficult because they are intelligent primates, capable of recognizing people participating in the capture. When seeing the functional force, the monkey leader alarmed his fellow humans to hide.
Currently, the functional force has caught 20 monkeys. Monkeys are received by Lo Go – Xa Mat National Park (Tay Ninh), Dong Nai Cultural Nature Reserve, Ta Dung National Park (Dak Nong Province).
It is known that Chau Thoi mountain population in Binh Duong was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic in 1989. There are about 50 monkeys, including long-tailed macaques (Macaca Fasciculari) and pig-tailed macaques (Macaca Fasciculari). Macaca Leonina).
