A remarkable video of a baboon holding a leopard pup recently went popular online. Baboons and leopards commonly live and interact in Sᴏᴜᴛʜ Aғʀɪᴄᴀ’s Pilanesberg Private Game Reserve, although it is exceptional to witness soᴍᴇᴛʜing like this.

The 44-year-old photographer, Paul Wood, claimed to have seen a huge troop of baboons while watching the performance. A juvenile male baboon was also cradling a little leopard cub under his belly with his arm.

The baboon was eager to take the lion baby with him since he was inquisitive about it. According to Paul Wood, they saw him grooming the cub as he was sitting calmly next to it and sometimes checking on it to make sure everything was okay. Although he was clumsy, he was actually rather kind with it, and didn’t seem to be trying to ʜᴜʀᴛ it in any way.

The baboon was behind the rest of the troop. Even though he was still keeping up with the rest of the troop, he sat with the cub for a while before lifting it up with one arm and heading a little farther down the road. After pursuing the remainder of the group off the road and into the deep ɢʀᴀss, he eventually caught up with them. The baboon swiftly disappeared from view after crossing the road, sliding down an embankment, and plunging over a cliff.
